As a teacher, my biggest goal is to pass on my personal love of music and all it encompasses to my students, and to enable them to enjoy playing and learning for themselves for the rest of their lives. I feel called to create a deeper impact in my students’ lives that includes — but also exceeds — learning how to play piano.
I believe that a holistic sense of musicianship (understanding theory, history, performance practice, composition and improvisation, and so much more!) is crucial to a child’s real enjoyment of music, not just completing exams (although they are very useful too!). Music works wonders for their cognitive development, and in my studio, my goal is to give my students a sense of love, belonging, good character building, work ethic, and hopefully many happy memories!
Having been teaching since 2016, I have also been consistently applying myself to gaining more experience, training, and qualification. I recently graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Music, focusing on performing for the first two years and composition for the last year. Before that, I completed all eight AMEB Piano grades, and also went on to complete the Certificate of Performance. I am currently studying a Masters of Teaching (Primary and Secondary) degree, and I plan on pursuing all other certifications necessary for me to be the best teacher I can for all my students. I hold a current Victorian Working With Children Check and Police Check.
